Facebook putting fresh face on Profile pages

Facebook users aren’t just looking forward to taking their Friends with them to other websites, thanks to the recently-announced Facebook Connect feature. Very soon they’ll be seeing a new look to their Facebook Profile pages, according to product manager Mark Slee on the Facebook Blog.
Slee served as tour guide this week for tech journalists and bloggers at Facebook offices in Palo Alto, showing off mockups of the redesigned pages. If you are a Facebook user, you’ve no doubt noticed clutter and the need to do lots of scrolling on some very busy-looking profile pages. Slee is promising a cleaner look thanks to expanded use of tabbed pages, including a “publish” box that centralizes all user-uploaded content.
You can check out video from the tour itself or see a slide show of the redesign features. As usual, the most interesting part of the preview is the comments section as Facebook users weigh in on the proposed changes; lots of MySpace-bashing, of course, but also some good suggestions. No doubt Slee and Facebook developers are taking plenty of notes.

LOVELY SCHOOL DAYS.. I MISS IT..

Take time to read it patiently,
Feeling each line, its amazing......ENJOY YOURSELF !!

Gone are the days……

When the school reopened in June,
And we settled in our new desks and benches.

When we queued up in book depot,
And got our new books and notes.

When we wanted two Sundays and no Mondays,
yetManaged to line up daily for the morning prayers.

We learnt writing with slates and pencils,
andProgressed To fountain pens and ball pens and then micro tips.

We began drawing with crayons and
evolved toColor pencils and finally sketch pens.

We started calculating first with tables and then
withLog tables and advanced to calculators and computers.

When we chased one another in the corridors inIntervals,
and returned to the classrooms drenched in sweat.

When we had lunch in classrooms, corridors,Playgrounds,
under the trees and even in cycle shed.

When all the colors in the world,
Decorated the campus on the Second Saturdays.

When a single P.T. period in the week's Time Table,
Was awaited more eagerly than the monsoons.

When cricket was played with writing pads as bats,
And Neckties and socks rolled into balls.

When few played "kabadi" and "Kho-Kho" in scorching sun,
While others simply played "book cricket" in the confines of classroom.

Of fights but no conspiracies,
Of Competitions but seldom jealousy.

When we used to watch Live Cricket telecast,
In the opposite house in Intervals and Lunch breaks.

When few rushed at 1:45 to "Conquer" window seats in our School bus.

While few others had "Big Fun", "Chock-o-bar",
"kulfi ice" and "Pepsi"at2:00 Clock.

Gone are the days Of Sports Day, and the annual School Day,
And the one-month long preparations for them.

Gone are the days Of the stressful Quarterly,Half Yearly and Annual Exams,
And the most enjoyed holidays after them.

Of tenth and twelfth standards, when we Spent
almost the whole yearwritingrevision tests.

We learnt, we enjoyed, we played, we won, we lost,
We laughed, we cried, we fought, we thought.

With so much fun in them, so many friends,
So much experience, all this and more.

Gone are the days when we used to talk for hours with our friends.

Now we don't have time to say a HI.

Gone are the days when we played games on the road.
Now we code on the road with laptop.
Gone are the days when we saw stars shining at night.
Now we see stars when our code doesn't work.

Gone are the days when we sat to chat with friends on grounds.
Now we chat in chat rooms.....Gone are the days where we studied just to pass.

Now we study to save our job

Gone are the days where we had no money in our pockets
and fun filled on our hearts

Now we have the ATM as well as credit card but with an empty heart

Gone are the days where we shouted on the road.

Now we don t shout even at home

Gone are the days where we got lectures from all.

Now we give lectures to all... like the one I'm doing now....

Gone are the daysBut not the memories,
which will beLingering in our hearts for ever and ever and Ever and ever andEver.....

NO MATTER HOW BUSY YOU ARE,
DON'T FORGET TO LIVE THE LIFE THAT STILL EXISTS.
IT WONT BE THERE FOR EVER

The Web is Empty

Recycle BinDo you have the feeling you’re always visiting the same web sites over and over again even if it’s supposed to be different web sites? I’m really sick of what I call “Content Replication” and this is particularly true about blogs. Whatever the subject I’m searching about I usually end up reading more or less the same content over and over again. This is especially true when searching about paying subjects like web design, search engine optimization (SEO), making money online, finance, medical, etc.
Why is it that way? People blogging for money. When you search for popular content, you have millions of webmasters trying to make a buck with their website/blog. You will find original content on maybe 1% of the web sites, others are just “content replication”. Bloggers who do content replication are bloggers seeking easy money so they re-write existing articles in their own words. We all do it in a certain way as we have to gather our information somewhere, but there’s a way of being creative and not repeating the same articles over and over again.
What is more annoying is that webmasters can make money with content replication. Search for “How to make money online” and you will most likely get 10 similar posts on the main search page. The only credit that goes for the webmaster is its ability to be ranked on the first page of Google. Apart from that, it’s more or less the same content.
The Web is empty because probably 98% of the content is duplicate content re-written in the hope of getting some traffic and making a couple of bucks out of it. Sad thing is it works if you manage to get traffic.
I understand sometimes as a blogger you don’t have time to write but you have to write a little something for your readers. It’s quick and easy to take existing content and re-write it a bit, but this shouldn’t be more than 1-2% of the posts.
Anyway, I would just like to see more original content and stop having the impression of re-visiting the same web site over and over.

Firefox : Speed It Up a Notch $$

One easy, cool preference you might want to tweak deals with speed. By default, Firefox runs fast enough it’s like driving at the speed limit. But if you want to push your browsing experience, modify a few settings in about:config. Note that these edits are for broadband connections only; if you’re still dialing up, you’re stuck with whatever speed you’ve got.
On the about:config screen, scroll down to the network.http.pipelining options. The name says it all: Firefox normally processes all HTTP requests sequentially. Once it sends one out, it waits for a response before sending the next request to a server.
If you set network.http.pipelining and network.http .proxy.pipelining to true then you’ve basically just upgraded an antiquated browsing system with modern plumbing.
Set the network.http.pipelining.maxrequests option to 30 and Firefox will now send up to 30 HTTP requests at once theoretically, although not always, making your browsing that little bit faster.
Before you close the window, right-click anywhere on the about:config page and select New Integer.
Then type in nglayout.initialpaint.delay and enter 0 as its value.
Firefox will now render pages immediately instead of waiting its default 250 ms, a slight but noticeable difference when you’re surfing the Web

Here are some Tips to Recover the Data From Scratched CDs :-

Home Remedy :

here’s an easy home remedy, which might give you the desired results. It works and even if it doesnt because of some reason, you got nothing to lose if the CD is already scratched…

Rub a small amount of toothpaste on the scratch and polish the CD with a soft cloth and any petroleum-based polishing solution (like clear shoe polish). Squirt a drop of Brasso and wipe it with a clean cloth.

Technology to the rescue

There are many softwares available on the net, which enable the recovery of the CD data. BadCopy Pro is one such software, which can be used to recover destroyed data and files from a range of media.

Just a few clicks is all it requires to recover the disc from almost all kind of damage situation; be it corrupted, lost data, unreadable or defective.

DiskDoctors is another popular company, which offers both software and solutions to recover data from a scratched CDs and DVDs.

General Tips:

* Always wipe the CD from the center outward with stratight spoke-like strokes. Wiping CDs in circles will create more scratches.

* Do not scratch the graphics layer as you cannot repair the disc. HINT: Hold the disc up to a light with the graphics layer facing the light source. If
you can see light thru the scratches at any point then the disc may be irreparable and or exhibit loading or playing errors.

* Clean your Disc players lens regularly with a suitable product to ensure optimal viewing pleasure.

* Make sure to use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean both sides of the disc. Wipe in a straight line from the centre of the disc to the outer edge.

* If wiping with a cloth does not remove a fingerprint or smudge, use a specialized DVD disc polishing spray to clean the disc.

* Only handle the disc by its outer edge and the empty hole in the middle. This will help prevent fingerprints, smudges or scratches.

Statistics:

*Fingermarks/prints cause 43% of disc problems!
* General wear & tear causes 25% of disc problems!
* Player-related issues cause 15% of disc problems!
* User-related issues cause 12% of disc problems!

* Laser rot (a manufacturer error) causes 2% of disc problems!

Speed up your computer startup process with Startup Delayer

Startup Delayer allows you to configure timed delays for each application that starts after Windows boots up. when Windows boots, it loads at the same time a lot of programs (ie: Antivirus, firewall, office quickstart bar, mouse manager, messenger…): this puts an high overwork on the hard disk (it has to read simultaneasly from totally different parts of the disk) and this saturates Ram and CPU (launching a new program is often resources expensive). It’s easy to understand that, in this way, boot is really slow.
Startup Delayer will allow you to setup how many seconds after Windows has started, to load each application. For Example, if you have your mail program and a special clock starting up, then you can make your mail start say 10 seconds after Windows has loaded, and then the special clock start 20 seconds after Windows Starts.

Download Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3)

Most of us are waiting for the Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3), finally it was released. Windows XP Service Pack 3 (XP SP3) fixes a range of bugs and adds new features to Windows XP. The file is a large download and can be applied to any version of Windows XP Home, Professional, TabletPC or Media Center (32 bit only). In addition, it doesn’t matter what XP patches you have previously applied to your system, SP3 will update any unpatched, partially patched or completely updated system (it includes all previously released patches, updates and features of Service Pack 1 and 2). Keep in mind that new patches made available after Service Pack 3 was released will still need to be applied.
DO NOT CLICK DOWNLOAD IF YOU ARE UPDATING JUST ONE COMPUTER: A smaller, more appropriate download is now available on Windows Update. The best way to ensure you get Windows XP Service Pack 3 is by turning on the Automatic Updates feature in Windows XP. You can use our step-by-step instructions or, if you prefer, let us do it for you.

Download Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3)

Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) includes the following:
* All previous security patches and fixes released for Windows XP.* All enhancements and new features that were included with Windows XP SP1 and Windows XP SP2* Only two new features have been added: Black Hole Router Detection Windows and Network Access Protection (NAP).* The following are already available for Windows XP in stand-alone updates. Windows XP SP3 includes them by default (System administrators must choose to install each of these updates): MMC 3.0, MSXML6, Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 v2, Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) 2.5, IPsec Simple Policy Update for Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP, Digital Identity, Management Service (DIMS), Peer Name Resolution Protocol (PNRP) 2.1, Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2).* From the Release Notes: “Microsoft is not adding significant functionality from newer versions of Windows, such as Windows Vista, to Windows XP through XP SP3. For instance, Windows XP SP3 does not include Windows Internet Explorer 7, although Windows XP SP3 does include updates to both Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Explorer 7, and it will update whichever version is installed on the computer. One notable exception is that, SP3 does include Network Access Protection (NAP).”
